  27.     Installation Instructions:
  28.  
  29.    1. Start Windows v3.1.
  30.  
  31.    2. Open the Control Panel and select the Drivers icon.
  32.  
  33.    3. If you currently have SoundBlaster drivers installed, please remove
  34.       all of them with the REMOVE button and restart Windows before
  35.       continuing.
  36.  
  37.    4. Click on the ADD button.
  38.  
  39.    5. Select Unlisted or Updated driver and click on OK.
  40.  
  41.    6. Insert the floppy containing the drivers.
  42.  
  43.    7. Type in the drive letter of the floppy drive containing the driver disk.
  44.  
  45.       WARNING! - The following steps will OVERWRITE your existing MIDIMAP.CFG
  46.                  configuration.  If you want to keep your existing
  47.                  configuration, click on CANCEL and make a copy of MIDIMAP.CFG
  48.                  before continuing the installation process.
  49.  
  50.    8. Select SoundBlaster MIDI Synthesizer and click on OK.
  51.  
  52.    9. Windows will ask if you want to use the current MIDIMAP.CFG or install
  53.       the new MIDIMAP.CFG - Select NEW and continue on.
  54.  
  55.   10. Windows will prompt you for the SoundBlaster I/O address.  The default
  56.       I/O address is 220H.  If you have changed the jumper on your card to
  57.       240H, then select 240H.
  58.  
  59.   11. Windows will ask if you want to restart your system.  Click on
  60.       DON'T RESTART, then repeat steps 4, 5, 6, and 7.
  61.  
  62.   12. Select SoundBlaster v1.5 or SoundBlaster v2.0 Wave and MIDI, depending
  63.       on which card you own (Quick way to tell:  The v2.0 has three 1/8" mini
  64.       jacks - Line In, Mic In, and Audio Out, and the v1.5 only has two 1/8"
  65.       jacks - Mic In and Audio Out).  Make your selection and click on OK.

  67.   13. Windows will prompt you for the SoundBlaster I/O address, Interrupt, and
  68.       DMA channel. Choose the settings your card is set to and continue on.
  69.  
  70.   14. Windows will ask if you want to restart your system.  Click on
  71.       RESTART NOW.  Windows will then restart.
  72.  
  73.   15. If you run into problems, check your SYSTEM.INI by choosing RUN from
  74.       the File menu of the Program Manager, and typing SYSEDIT in the
  75.       commandline box.  Check your [Drivers] and [sndblst.drv] sections.
  76.       They should look something like this:

  90.    Two additional Windows applications are provided.  They are MMJBOX.EXE and
  91.    MMCBOX.EXE, please copy them into your Windows directory.

  97.    1. We are including drivers that make use of Device Virtualization.  These
  98.       drivers will allow DOS Apps that use the SoundBlaster to run in Enhanced
  99.       Mode.
  100.  
  101.       Please make sure that the line reading "device=vsbpd.386" under the
  102.       [386Enh] section in your SYSTEM.INI is correct.  If it reads
  103.       "device=vsbd.386", simply change it to read "device=vsbpd.386".  Make
  104.       sure the file is in your Windows SYSTEM directory. If it is not, copy it
  105.       from the Drivers Disk.
  106.  
  107.    2. A MIDI-MAP has been created to make use of SBFM.DRV, please use the MIDI
  108.       MAPPER icon under Control Panel to customize it to your requirements.
  109.  
  110.       Under Windows v3.1, MIDI channel 10 is referenced as the drum channel.
  111.       If you are having problems with the FM synth not sounding "right", try
  112.       modifying the configuration with the MIDI Mapper.
  113.
